# Jatayu Media Player privacy policy Last updated: 22 October 2026 Jatayu Media Player for Android is an offline media player created by Anup Kumar Yadav, a JatayuOS project. This policy describes the Android app, including its local library, Sound Studio, Study Mode, picture-in-picture, crossfade, interface language and music playback controls. ## Information on your device The app reads audio/video files you select or permit it to discover. It keeps library references, media metadata, thumbnails, playback progress, favourites, playlists, study notes and sound preferences in its local app storage. Sound processing and visualizer analysis run on your device. The app does not use the microphone to analyze music. The app has no account system, advertising or analytics integration. It does not include an app-operated data collection or upload service and does not request Android's Internet permission. It does not send your media, library, notes or listening history to the creator's servers or sell this information. ## Android permissions and controls Media permissions allow the optional device-library scan to find audio/video files. Android may grant full or selected-video access, depending on its version and your choice. You can select files individually using the system file picker and change permissions in Android Settings. Music playback uses a media playback foreground service and a partial wake lock while playing, so it can continue with the screen off. Android receives local now-playing metadata and playback state to provide notification, lock-screen, Bluetooth and headset controls. Track titles may appear on the lock screen or connected playback devices according to your Android settings. Audio focus is used to respond to other audio apps and interruptions. These functions do not require microphone, contacts, location or phone-state permission. Video can continue in Android picture-in-picture when enabled and permitted. Dismissing PiP or leaving video without PiP pauses video. Visible playing PiP may also use the media playback service and wake lock. Crossfade processes two local music tracks on-device; the interface language choice stays in local settings. ## Files, exports and external links Removing an entry from the library does not delete the original media file. Exporting Study Mode notes writes the chosen content to the location you select. Exported files remain there until you remove them. Website, source and support links open an external browser. If you visit those sites or submit support requests, those services process information according to their own policies. Please avoid posting private media or personal information in public issue reports. Google Play and Android may separately process data under your platform settings and their own policies; no Play analytics SDK has been added to this app. ## Retention and your choices Local app data remains until you remove it, clear app storage or uninstall the app. Playback history can also be cleared from Settings. Clearing or uninstalling the app does not remove your original media or exported notes. Android backup and app-data extraction are disabled for the app. There is no account to delete and no app-operated server-side profile to request removal from. You can revoke media permissions using Android Settings. ## Contact and changes Creator: Anup Kumar Yadav. Website: https://jatayuos.in/. Privacy questions: https://jatayuos.in/support/.
